IAOM Elects New Leadership at 122nd Annual Conference and Expo in Atlanta, GA

Three international officers were elected at the International Association of Operative Millers' 122nd Annual Conference & Expo on April 12, in Atlanta, Georgia, USA. 

Jeff Hole, vice president of operations at Miller Milling Company in Bloomington, Minnesota, became the 114th president of the Association. 

David Jansen, plant manager at Siemer Milling Company in Teutopolis, Illinois, was elected vice president. 

Randy Garvert, senior director of operations at Ardent Mills in Denver, Colorado, was elected treasurer. 

President 

In his opening remarks at the banquet, Hole stressed the importance of the IAOM mission, which is "to enhance the proficiency of members in the international grain milling industry by providing educational forums for the delivery and exchange of ideas and technology." 

Hole has been an active member of IAOM since 1994. 

He served as the Central District chairperson and on the IAOM board of directors from 2006-2012, representing the Central District. 

He has been on the Employee Relations Committee since 2011. Hole is a native of Wichita, Kansas. 

He earned a bachelor's degree in milling science and a master's degree in agribusiness at Kansas State University, in Manhattan, Kansas. 

Hole took over the position of vice president of operations at Miller Milling Company, one of the largest flour milling companies in the United States, in June 2017. 

For the two previous decades, Hole held a variety of production and managerial positions in the milling industry, including head miller, milling superintendent, plant manager, and director of plant administration for Cereal Food Processors Inc., milling superintendent at Grain Millers Inc., and director of milling for Grain Craft. 

Vice President 

  As vice president, Jansen will be responsible for overseeing preparations for the Association's 2019 conference in Denver, Colorado. 

He is in line to serve as the Association’s president from 2019-2020. Jansen has been an active member of IAOM since 1995. 

While serving as IAOM vice president, he will also be president of the International Milling Education Foundation (IMEF), a philanthropic partner of IAOM that funds a variety of educational programs related to the grain milling industry. 

Jansen was the Ohio Valley District director from 2010-2016, and served as the District’s Chairperson from 2006-2009. 

He was a District officer from 2005-2006. Jansen is a native of Effingham, Illinois. 

He has an associate degree in electronic engineering technology from Lake Land College in Mattoon, Illinois. 

He is a 2016 graduate of the Illinois Agricultural Leadership Program, and received a certificate in 1996 from Kansas State University and IAOM for the Advanced Operative Millers Short Course. 

Jansen has been with Siemer Milling Company since 1994, when he started in the maintenance department upon graduation. 

He became packing and loading supervisor in 1995, the assistant production manager in 2001 and production manager in 2006. 

He has been the plant manager since 2008. 

Jansen is a past president of the Teutopolis Fire Protection District, and has been a volunteer firefighter in the district since 2006. 

Treasurer 

As treasurer, Garvert will be responsible for overseeing preparations for the Association's 2019 and 2020 conferences in Denver, Colorado, and Portland, Oregon, respectively. 

He is also in line to serve as the Association's president from 2020-2021. 

Garvert has been an active member of IAOM since 1990. 

While serving as IAOM treasurer, he will also be vice president of the International Milling Education Foundation (IMEF), a philanthropic partner of IAOM that funds a variety of educational programs related to the grain milling industry. 

Garvert served as a member of the Flour City District's executive committee from 1998-2003, and on the IAOM international board, representing the Texoma District, from 2007-2013. Garvert is a native of Plainville, Kansas. 

He has a bachelor's degree in agricultural economics from Kansas State University, and a manufacturing executive program certification from the Michigan Business School (1999). 

Garvert has been with Ardent Mills since it was formed in 2014. Prior to that, from 1981 to 2014, Garvert held a variety of production and managerial positions at ConAgra Foods Inc., ConAgra Mills, including operations analyst, administrative assistant, assistant plant manager, plant manager, group business manager, regional plant manager and senior director of manufacturing.
