IAOM Past President Ivo Klaric Passes Away

Ivo Klaric

The following is a letter from Melinda Farris, Executive Vice President of the International Association of Operative Millers, to IAOM members regarding the passing of Past President Ivo Klaric.

Dear IAOM Members,

We learned last of IAOM Past President Ivo Klaric’s passing on Sunday, March 22, 2020. Please share this news with others.

Ivo was the first non-North American to serve as President of IAOM. Born in Bolivia – of Croatian descent, Ivo became president of IAOM at the 113th annual conference & expo in Grand Rapids, Michigan, in 2009; ever since remembered as Mr. Presidente.

During his career, Ivo worked for Molinos Modernos, Guatemala City, Guatemala (2014-2019), Cargill/Horizon Milling, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada (2008-2014), Molinos del Ecuador, Seaboard Corporation, Guayaquil, Ecuador (1992-2008), Continental Grain, Guanica, Puerto Rico (1990-1992), and Ferrari Ghezzi & Cia mill, La Paz, Bolivia (1982-1990).

He had just started a new family business with his daughters and wife, packing different types of flour and mixes. They hope to continue the business in his honor, making one of his last dreams come true.

We will all miss Ivo; none more than his wife, Karina, and daughters Vanessa, Vallery and Michelle, all of whom were his pride and joy.

Please visit a memorial page set up in Ivo's honor at https://www.gatheringus.com/memorial/ivo-klaric/2743 to post or read memories and condolences.

May he rest in peace and may his legacy be carried on in the milling industry.

Sincerely,
Melinda Farris
Executive Vice President
