These comments were taken from a First Quarter MILLING JOURNAL interview with IAOM Executive Vice President Melinda Farris

We already have held two weeks of the IAOM-Kansas State University (KSU) Resident Milling Course program in 2010.

They were both well-attended and well-received.

We are evaluating the courses constantly, to make sure they meet the needs of the industry.

At its meeting in April 2010, the Education Committee will discuss plans for the four courses that have had the most difficulty attracting participants.

IMEF funds. The International Milling Education Foudnation (IMEF) continues to grow.

We have had a series of very generous donations over the past year. Many of those donors will be recognized at the IMEF Breakfast at the Las Vegas Conference this April.

We have reached a milestone of $250,000.

The funds have allowed us to support KSU student speakers at the IAOM annual conference for the past three years.

Last year, we were able to support a KSU student with a $2,500 scholarship for the 2009-10 academic year.

As the endowment continues to grow, IMEF will look at offering support for millers to attend the resident courses and to take the correspondence course, among other programs.
