Brazil resumed its purchases of wheat from Russia in June of this year after a five-month hiatus, reports RIA Novosti, citing official data from Brazilian customs.

"Brazil halted regular wheat imports from Russia in December last year and maintained a pause until June. At the beginning of summer, imports of Russian grain resumed, with 187,200 tons imported for a total value of $41.3 million," the report states. In July, imports increased to 241,000 tons, with a value of $56.2 million.

The volume of shipments grew by 29% month-over-month and by 1.4 times year-over-year. Moreover, the July shipment volume was only 2% below the record level set in September of last year.
