Port Colborne, ONTARIO, CANADA — Neil Mathieson, a longtime miller and active member of the International Association of Operative Millers until his retirement, died Feb. 24. He was 72.

Mathieson began his career as an apprentice with J&R Snodgrass Flour Mills in Glasgow, Scotland, in 1963 before emigrating to Montreal, Quebec, in 1968, where he worked as a plant manager for Maple Leaf Mills.

He had later assignments in Haiti and Trinidad before returning to Canada with his wife, Janette, and children Paul and Andrea.

Mathieson worked for Montreal-based Robin Hood Multifoods Inc. from September 1983 to June 2004.

Mathieson received several accolades from IAOM during his career, including the Thaddeus B. Bownik Outstanding Service Award in 2009 and Milling Operative of the Year in 2001.
