Tangible Insights Shared at NAMA’s Virtual Spring Conference

More than 125 milling industry leaders gathered virtually for the 2021 North American Millers’ Association Spring Conference, which ended Tuesday, April 20.

“NAMA was proud to host two days of online programming focused specifically on the issues that impact millers the most,” said NAMA President Jane DeMarchi.

“From the expert speakers to the dialogue during our committee meetings, Spring Conference provided insights that you can’t find anywhere else. While our meeting was virtual, the results are tangible.”

The general session presentations focused on some of the most critical topics facing the agriculture and food industries in 2021.

IRI’s Sally Lyons Wyatt discussed what’s next for food retail sales after the pandemic, emphasizing the long-term role of e-commerce and consumers’ growing interest in sustainability.

Debbie Reed of the Ecosystem Services Market Consortium discussed the future of water and carbon markets as a way for both farmers and companies to participate in climate change mitigation.

The educational programming also featured a panel discussion about how food safety culture will shape the food industry and regulatory landscape moving forward.

The second general session took a deep dive into this year’s production forecasts for oats and wheat.

NAMA members also participated in technical committee meetings and corn, oat, and soft wheat division meetings as part of the event.
