Fourth Quarter 2021 Flour Production Report ... Wheat Flour Production Up 2% From Third Quarter

All wheat ground for flour during the fourth quarter 2021 was 235 million bushels, up 2% from the third quarter 2021 grind of 221 million bushels and up 1% from the fourth quarter 2020 grind of 231 million bushels.

Fourth quarter 2021 total flour production was 108 million hundredweight, up 2% from the third quarter 2021 and up 1% from the fourth quarter 2020.

Whole wheat flour production at 5.26 million hundredweight during the fourth quarter 2021 accounted for 5% of the total flour production.

Millfeed production from wheat in the fourth quarter 2021 was 1.70 million tons.

The daily 24-hour milling capacity of wheat flour during the third quarter 2021 was 1.59 million hundredweight.

Durum wheat ground for flour and semolina production during the fourth quarter of 2021 totaled 15.9 million bushels, up 2% from the third quarter 2021 but down 8% from the fourth quarter 2020.

Fourth quarter 2021 durum flour and semolina production was 7.54 million hundredweight, up 3% from the third quarter 2021 but down 8% from the fourth quarter 2020.

Whole wheat durum flour and semolina production was 335,000 hundredweight, up 49% from 238,000 hundredweight in the third quarter 2021 and up 141% from 147,000 hundredweight in the fourth quarter 2020.

Fourth quarter durum wheat millfeed production was 109,368 tons and the daily 24-hour milling capacity for durum and semolina production was 131,730 hundredweight.

Rye ground for flour during the fourth quarter of 2021 was 449,000 bushels, up 4% from the second quarter 2021 and down 5% from fourth quarter 2020.

Rye flour production during the third quarter of 2021 was 207,000 hundredweight, compared to 193,000 hundredweight in the previous quarter and 216,000 hundredweight in the same quarter for the previous year.

The daily 24-hour milling capacity for rye milling was 9,655 hundredweight for fourth quarter 2021.
