Ron Galle, director of quality and food safety at Miller Milling Company, became the 2022-23 president of the International Association of Operative Millers (IAOM) at the Association’s 126th Annual Conference & Expo on May 5, in Richmond, Virginia.
During his incoming presidential remarks at the closing banquet, Galle said he wanted to focus on the pillars of the strategic plan during his term, including industry recruitment, diversity and education. Galle has been an active member of IAOM since 1990.
Galle has served on the Food Protection Committee since 1997 and served as its chair from 2013 to 2019. Galle received the IAOM Thaddeus B. Bownik Outstanding Service Award in 2017. Last year, Galle was the president of the International Milling Education Foundation (IMEF), IAOM’s philanthropic partner, and was responsible for organizing the IMEF auction fundraising activities in Richmond.
Galle is a native of Moundridge, Kansas. He began his career with Cargill Flour Milling after receiving a bachelor’s degree in Milling Science and Management from KSU in 1990.
Early on, he worked in milling and plant manager roles at a number of Cargill’s flour mills. In 1997, Ron began managing environmental, safety and food safety responsibilities for Cargill locations in U.S. and South America and helped with the formation of Horizon Milling.
Ron joined ADM Milling in 2008 and lead division level quality and food safety initiatives such as BRC/GFSI and FSMA compliance. He joined Miller Milling in 2019 and in his current role, leads the company on Quality, Food Safety and Regulatory initiatives.
Throughout his career, Ron has been very active in industry food safety committees and projects. He is a member of the North American Millers Association Technical Committee and the American Baking Association Food Technology and Regulatory Affairs committee (FTRAC). Galle also serves on the Kansas State University College of Agriculture Dean’s Advisory Council.
