Arthur Hibbs, internationally known grain miller and past IAOM President, passed away on May 31, 1922 in Florida after a life well lived. He was born in Kansas in 1921.
He graduated from Kansas State University with a bachelor’s degree in 1943 and a master’s in 1947. He was Dr. Schellenberger’s first graduate student. He worked in all phases of milling operations for the International Milling Company/International Multifoods Corporation over 37 years in the United States, Canada, and South America.
After retiring in 1988 he formed an international consulting firm and remained active in the grain processing industry by consulting for grain processing companies, conducting training seminars and technology updates for Kansas State University, U.S. Wheat Associates, other organizations, and private companies.
He served on the IAOM Education and Technical committees and was president of then-AOM in 1968. A Gold Medal Award recipient (1986), he was recognized as a distinguished member in 2002.
A captain in the combat engineers in WWII, he was interred with military honors at Fort Leavenworth National Cemetery on August 22, 2022.
