USDA Weekly Crop Progress Report (8/29): Corn's Condition Continues to Drop; Wheat Is Up

Corn's condition continued to deteriorate for the fourth straight week.

Here are the stats according to today's Crop Progress Report by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA):

Corn: In 18 select corn producing states, 42% of corn is in good condition, while 27% is rated fair. This is down slightly from last year, with 46% good and 26% fair.

Soybeans: In 18 select soybean producing states, 46% are in good condition and 30% are fair. This is nearly the same as last year, with 45% good and 29% fair.

Spring Wheat: In 6 select spring wheat producing states, 58% are good and 26% are fair. This is up dramatically from last year, with only 10% good and 26% fair.

Sorghum: In 6 select sorghum producing states, conditions are poor, with only 19% rated good and 35% rated fair. This is down dramatically from last year, with 49% good and 30% fair.
