Mike Jarrett, IAOM president from 1998-99, passed away peacefully on Jan 28, 2023.

He is survived by his wife, Valerie, along with his brother Andrew, children Scott (Helene) and Michele (Declan), and grandchildren Katie, Amie, and Tristan. He was Uncle to Mark, Lisa, Olivia, and Elora. He was predeceased by his parents Ken and Dorothy.

Mike had a long and successful career in flour milling, starting with Henry Simon in 1964 and retiring as regional manager with ADM in 2009.

In retirement, he enjoyed winter months in Florida and summers at his second home at Rice Lake, ON, Canada.

Aaron Black, a former president of IAOM, says of Mike, "I came to know Mike through the IAOM and our Niagara District. Mike was always a pleasure to visit with.

"Whether it was a bit of advice on a meeting or a discussion around something in milling, Mike was always a great listener and someone whom I held a high degree of respect for.

"He set a very high bar for me when I was president of the IAOM and I can only hope that I lived up to his example. Mike will truly be missed."

George Siradas, plant manager for ADM in Buffalo, NY, remembers Mike fondly: "I worked for Mike for four years while I was plant manager of the ADM Mill in Buffalo, NY. During that time, he made it a point to visit the Buffalo Plant every month.

"We discussed projects and any obstacles. He always invited me to dinner during his monthly meetings. We discussed a variety of things about work and out of work, and I always looked forward to his visits! He was a pleasure to work with and I learned much from him."
