All wheat ground for flour during the fourth quarter 2023 was 226 million bushels, down 2% from the third quarter 2023 grind of 231 million bushels and down 1% from the fourth quarter 2022 grind of 229 million bushels.
Fourth quarter 2023 total flour production was 105 million hundredweight, down 2% from the third quarter 2023 and down 1% from the fourth quarter 2022.
Whole wheat flour production at 4.58 million hundredweight during the fourth quarter 2023 accounted for 4% of the total flour production.
Millfeed production from wheat in the fourth quarter 2023 was 1.61 million tons.
The daily 24-hour milling capacity of wheat flour during the fourth quarter 2023 was 1.59 million hundredweight.
Durum wheat ground for flour and semolina production during the fourth quarter of 2023 totaled 17.0 million bushels, up 6% from the third quarter 2023 and up 3% from the fourth quarter 2022.
Fourth quarter 2023 durum flour and semolina production was 7.98 million hundredweight, up 5% from the third quarter 2023 but down less than 1% from the fourth quarter 2022.
Whole wheat durum flour and semolina production was 76,000 hundredweight, down 32% from 111,000 hundredweight in the third quarter 2023 and down 37% from 120,000 hundredweight from the fourth quarter 2022.
Fourth quarter durum wheat millfeed production was 107,726 tons and the daily 24-hour milling capacity for durum and semolina production was 134,730 hundredweight.
Rye ground for flour during the fourth quarter of 2023 was 390,000 bushels, down less than 1% from the third quarter 2023 but unchanged from the fourth quarter 2022.
Rye flour production during the fourth quarter of 2023 was 174,000 hundredweight, compared to 174,000 hundredweight in the previous quarter and 178,000 hundredweight in the same quarter for the previous year.
The daily 24-hour milling capacity for rye milling was 9,655 hundredweight for the fourth quarter 2023
