The Department of Grain Science and Industry at Kansas State University has awarded $180,000 to its undergraduate students enrolled in Bakery Science and Management, Feed Science and Management, and Milling Science and Management for the 2022–2023 academic year.

Anna Kolb, junior in milling science and baking science said, “I have been very blessed with the Department of Grain Science scholarships as they have allowed me to focus on my studies without as much of a financial burden. In addition, they have displayed the generosity of the grain science industry as a whole.”

Recipients include current students along with incoming freshmen and transfer students. The department is fortunate to have strong industry and alumni support to make these annual scholarships available for many years to come for future students.

"Due to the ever-rising cost of school, I could not afford to live out my dream of going to K-State if I did not receive scholarships. Because of the generosity of departmental scholarships, I have been able to work on campus, not take out loans, and can be more academically involved. Thank you to those who help make it possible,” stated Nathaniel Wren, senior in feed science.

Newly named interim department head, Hulya Dogan added, “We wish to thank the many donors who established scholarships to benefit our students. We honor your legacy. Scholarships are truly life-changing gifts that aid in alleviating our students’ financial burdens and allow them to focus on their academic studies and additional educational opportunities.”
